The first meadery in Orlando will open its doors in the Mills 50 District next week.
Zymarium Meadery will celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, August 19 at 1121 N Mills Ave, which was formerly home to Say It Loud!, a marketing agency.
The meadery is the creation of husband and wife Joe and Ginger Leigh, who have been making mead for nearly a decade.
According to their website, Joe Leigh has been named as one of the top ten mead makers in the world by the American Mead Makers Association.
Mead is a gluten-free alcohol that is made from honey, ranging between 6% and 14% alcohol by volume. According to the couple’s website, the mead will be produced by locally sourced honey and will be made taking a modern approach.
According to its website, the business will offer at least two dozen different types of mead, with a variety of flavor profiles including blueberry, raspberry, hazelnut, cherry pie, and vanilla, among many others.
The company currently offers monthly bottle releases online and ships its meads to over three dozen states across the U.S.
