6-year-old in critical condition after Orlando shooting that also injured her mother

A 6-year-old girl is in critical condition after she and her mother were shot in Orlando on Tuesday.

According to the Orlando Police Department, the child and her mother were involved in a shooting that took place in the 1100 block of Poppy Avenue at around 8:20 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29.

During that incident, police found the mother and daughter suffering from gunshot wounds before they were transported to a local hospital.

Police say the mother is in stable condition as of Wednesday afternoon.

A short time after the shooting, an adult male victim with gunshot wounds was dropped off at Orlando Health Central Hospital Emergency Room in Ocoee. That man was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Originally, police believed the incidents were connected. They have not provided any additional details regarding the case.
