Samuel Antonio Almonte, a devoted family man, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2023, in the embrace of his cherished wife, Edith Luz, as she sang songs and offered prayers during his transition. He was 73 years old and had resided in La Vega, Dominican Republic, before making Clermont, Florida, his home in 2016. Samuel’s journey through life was one marked by love, resilience and a deep commitment to his family.

Born in the vibrant community of La Vega, Samuel eventually found his way to the bustling streets of the Bronx, New York, where he spent many years and where his youngest son, Samuel Anthony Almonte, was born. During his time in the Bronx, Samuel formed lasting friendships while working in the automotive industry, specializing in car detailing. His friendly demeanor, warm smiles, and heartfelt greetings made him a beloved figure in his community.

Samuel’s devotion to his family knew no bounds. He was a loving and doting husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and brother. He held a special place in his heart for his son Anthony’s pups, Duke and Noah, showering them with affection. Samuel’s love extended to all his family members, and he prioritized their happiness above all else.

One of Samuel’s cherished pastimes was playing the lottery, meticulously studying winning patterns with the dream of hitting it big one day. While he did experience some small wins, he always maintained that the ultimate dream was for his family to have a brighter future. He was a selfless soul who put the needs and dreams of his loved ones before his own.

Samuel is survived by his loving wife, Edith Luz, his youngest son, Samuel Anthony Almonte, his daughter, Carmen, and his grandsons, Ali, Amir, and Sadiq, who meant the world to him. His legacy also lives on through his sons, Angel R, Samuel M, Alex, and Juan Ramon. Samuel was deeply connected to his sisters, brothers, nieces, and nephews, forming bonds that were unbreakable.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a viewing on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Winter Oak Funeral Home, located at 1132 E. Plant Street, Winter Garden, FL 34787.

A touching service in honor of Samuel’s life will be held at Resurrection Catholic Church at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday September 5, 2023.
