A 34-year-old man died in a fatal accident after his vehicle crashed and became fully submerged in an Orlando retention pond.
The fatal accident took place at around 4:33 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 10, according to a report by the Florida Highway Patrol.
The 34-year-old man was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Colorado westbound on 19th Street, just west of Westmoreland Drive. The man failed to negotiate around a cul-de-sac and ran off the roadway in a westerly direction.
As a result, the vehicle struck a curb and continued traveling west until it crashed into a retention pond, fully submerging the vehicle.
When authorities arrived at the scene, they located the driver outside of the vehicle in the retention pond.
The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
