Evelyn A. Saulpaugh

Evelyn A. Saulpaugh passed away on Monday, September 4th, 2023, in Orlando, Florida. She was born on August 6, 1930, at West Point, New York, to her parents, the late Rudyard and Elizabeth Walker.

Evelyn grew up at West Point, in New York’s beautiful Hudson Valley. Her educational journey began at the West Point Elementary/Middle School. As a teenager she enjoyed horseback riding, swimming, and ice skating.
She continued her studies at Highland Falls High School in Highland Falls, New York, graduating in 1948. Later Evelyn earned a Master’s Degree in Communication Arts from New York Institute of Technology.

Evelyn married Richard Saulpaugh in 1950 and started a family. During the early 1960s, the family moved to Liberia and later South Africa. Upon returning to Highland Falls, Evelyn was employed as a secretary for the Army Athletic Association in West Point from 1966-1971. From 1972 until her retirement in 1996, Evelyn worked as an Executive Secretary for the Administration Department at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Hospital in New York City.
Shortly after retiring, Evelyn and Richard moved to Tucson, Arizona, trading the New York winters for the desert climate and beautiful views of the Tucson Mountains. Evelyn had a passion for reading, painting, and gardening in her retirement. She shared her love of reading by tutoring third grade students. Evelyn enjoyed a wide variety of music: jazz, classical, opera, and contemporary artists such as Herb Alpert, Jack Jones, and Vic Damone. She was also an avid fan of BBC miniseries.

Evelyn is predeceased by her husband, Richard A. Saulpaugh, sister Jane Elford, and survived by her brother, Richard Walker, daughter Janine Saulpaugh, son Bruce Saulpaugh and his wife Betty Weaver Saulpaugh, son Christian Saulpaugh, granddaughters Katy Saulpaugh (husband Tim Van Aelst) and Autumn Saulpaugh Esposito, grandsons Ashley Saulpaugh and Eric Saulpaugh, great granddaughters Isabella Esposito and Abrielle Esposito, and great grandsons Lars Van Aelst and Conrad Van Aelst.

Evelyn was a devoted wife to her late husband, Richard A. Saulpaugh, and a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
