A 51-year-old Kissimmee man was killed after he was struck by a vehicle on and Orlando roadway while he was allegedly kneeling or laying down.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal accident took place at around 5:40 a.m. on Sunday, September 10.
Authorities say the man was either kneeling or laying down in the center lane of southbound Kissimmee-Vineland Road.
A 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee that was traveling southbound on the roadway ran over the pedestrian and continued traveling southbound.
State troopers eventually caught up with the driver of the Jeep, who said he did not know what he had struck. The driver, a 43-year-old man from Orlando, was not injured in the accident.
The Kissimmee man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
