Beverly Ann Sundberg grew up in a small town south of Boston called Hingham Massachusells til a live was a typical old Now Sheland town, neat, orderly and still a litle quaint. Many of the older homes were over 200 years old and many of its residents had roots that wore just as old. Many were privileged and snobby and their children inherited the same traits.
In 1950 Bev’s family moved into an area of run-down summer cottages. It was a much less desirable area as were its residents. Her dad built a new house there in 1950. This is where she grew up with her siblings John and Gail. It was quiet, had access to a beach and was surrounded by farm land. It was a hidden gem, a beautiful place to spend anyone’s childhood.
Her early childhood should have been idyllic, her father’s death in 1957 changed all that. Emotionally and financially life became difficult. Growing up Bev had many hobbies. She knitted and crocheted, paint by numbers, macrame, etc. She took piano lessons and played the organ. She played the trombone in the high school band. She participated in many school activities such as field hockey and band. She was always busy. During this time, she had to “make do” with things like clothes and shoes. It was difficult for a teenage girl to “fit in” with her more affluent classmates.
She graduated from Hingham High School in 1963. She then went to California to live with her Aunt Ruth and Uncle Ed. She attended Citrus Junior College while she lived there. Eventually she returned to Massachusetts. She attended Robie Business School and got a job with an insurance company.
She married for the first time in 1969. She had her three children. Christopher, Melissa, and Alexander. Divorced in 1980, after a difficult marriage. She ended up working many jobs to make ends meet. She always loved learning, but then she had to out of necessity.
In 1978 she became an LPN. In 1984 she received her BS from Fisher College. In 1987 she became a licensed Massage Therapist.
She remarried in 1986 to a man her daughter Melissa calls “He who must not be named”. She was proud to see Chris off to the Navy in 1988. The family moved to Orlando, FL 1989. They separated a few years later. Bev continued nursing. In 2010, she married the love of her life Robert, whom she had been waiting for her whole life. He became her best friend, then her husband. Her family grow larger by the addition of Robin, Bill, JD and Heather. And Robin’s 4 boys.
Bev throughout her life was inquisitive and never tired of learning. She was well read. She was a kind, gentle, non-judgmental, loving person. She always saw the best in people and always gave everyone the benefit of the doubt. She loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren and hearing about their lives. Her language of love was giving and the family will be finding collected presents for weeks to come.
She is survived by husband Robert Shed, Stepdaughter Robin Webber and her children Josh, CJ, Justin and James. Stepsons, Bill and JD and Stepdaughter Heather. Son Chris Chinetti and his wife, Karen. Daughter Melissa Morales and her husband Danny and their children: Erik Brown and his wife Katy. Jessica, Jacob and Emily Morales and Jonathan Sorise. Son Alex Chinetti and his daughter Annabel. Her brother John Sundberg and his wife Mary and their children Paul & Alex. Her sister Gail Viehoff and her husband Reinhard and their children Ruth, Steven, Heidi and Tim. Various extended family and treasured friends.
Bev showed love to all selflessly, please remember her laughter, quirky humor and love. When you lose your keys, glasses, sunglasses or phone think of her.
