Lucius Nichols McClellan Jr. of Oviedo, Florida, passed away on 7 September 2023 at home surrounded by family after a brief illness with Covid. Nick was born on 23 July 1932 in Slocomb, Alabama to Lucius Nichols Sr. and Nellie (Cotton) McClellan.
At the young age of 17, his father passed away leaving behind a wife and 3 children. Nick dropped out High School and entered the U.S. Army to be able to help support his Mother and Siblings. Initially entering the Army in Coastal Artillery, this field ended and he became a Male Nurse, serving in the Korean War. Nick earned his G.E.D. and would later teach classes at Rutgers and the University of Maryland on Field Medicine. After 21 years of service, Nick retired from the U.S. Army in San Antonio, Texas taking a job as a Medical Equipment Salesman and eventually moving and settling in Oviedo, Florida in 1974. Nick loved to tell stories of his time in the Army, Fishing local creeks, Camping, and doing wood working projects.
Nick is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Melaris (Pena Carrion) McClellan, brother Charles McClellan (Dep) of Symrna Georgia, Children Karl-Heinz Amthor (Regina) of Kirchberg Germany, Lucia Melaris Chism (decd.Danny) of Winter Park Florida, Robert Luis McClellan (Alice) of San Antonio Texas, and Roland Roy McClellan (Melissa) of Taneytown Maryland. Grandchildren Kevin Amthor, Elena Amthor, Jacqueline Braun, Brian McClellan, Matthew McClellan, Sarah Majeed, Michael Warnecker, Tyler McClellan, Samuel McClellan, and Cheyanne McClellan. Great Grandchildren Leevi, Leon, Lea, Ares, Leo, Coco, Dominic, Emmanuel, and Aayan. Sister Martha Virginia Plunkett of New Bern, North Carolina predeceased Nick in 2009.
