Horace Eggert, 90, of Clermont, FL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. He was surrounded by family, who will forever cherish the beautiful moments and memories he created during his lifetime.
Horace was born in 1933, to Herman Eggert and Erika Eggert-Beusse in Hamburg, Germany. He grew up in Hamburg and attended school there and in Buffalo, NY. Horace was sponsored into the United States at age 16, where he excelled both academically and socially. Horace was a remarkable individual with a passion for Family, Boating, and Golf.
Throughout his life, Horace demonstrated unwavering dedication to his family and friends. He was a loving husband of 66 years to Doris Eggert, always providing support, guidance, and a warm welcoming presence. His love and kindness extended to his entire family, who will forever be grateful for his presence in their lives.
Horace proudly served in the US Army. Professionally, he had a successful career as an automotive engineer. He was known for his dedication, precision, and problem-solving skills, which left a lasting impact on his colleagues and the industry.
In his retirement, Horace enjoyed traveling, he had a zest for cruises and a passion for the water, which took him and Doris on numerous cruises to many beautiful places in the world.
Horace was preceded in death by his son, Gordon Eggert. He is survived by his wife Doris, son Keith and wife Jena, granddaughter Emma and husband Lane, and granddaughter Hannah, as well as many beloved cousins and a multitude of friends who will forever cherish the time they spent together.
A private celebration of Horace’s life will be held on September 30.
