Richard Freeman Sr.

Richard Freeman Sr., 79, born in Sylva, North Carolina, passed in Pavo, Georgia on September 14, 2023. Born to Lloyd E. Freeman and Rosa A. Freeman.

The Freeman family lived in Tennessee for several years, where Richard and his father were baptized on the same day. The family relocated to Florida in February of 1957 when Richard was 14 years old. At the age of 16, he got his first job at Winn-Dixie as a bagger and would hitchhike to work every morning. Eventually he saved enough money to buy himself his first vehicle, a motorcycle.

Later in life Richard worked as a boat builder for over 25 years, then spent the rest of his working career traveling all over the United States as a long-distance truck driver. He would often share his truck cab with members of his family, where they would have grand adventures together and memories were made. Richard was a follower of the Jehovah Witness faith, and attended many assemblies and services with his mother, father, and his siblings.

Richard is survived by his wife of 43 years, Diane Freeman, and his daughters Diana and Michelle, and his son, Richard Jr. Richard is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
