A 27-year-old Orlando man who was tracked down across the state by police is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly attacking his ex-girlfriend, breaking her cell phone and Apple Watch, and detaining her at gunpoint her for several hours.
Pablo Eduardo Garcia was arrested and taken into custody last week by law enforcement authorities who tracked him down across the state to Citrus County.
Garcia is accused of attacking his ex-girlfriend at her Deltona home in the early morning hours of Saturday, Sept. 16.
According to the woman, on that morning, Garcia armed himself with a handgun and began sexually battering and punching the woman in her face throughout the morning.
Garcia allegedly pointed the gun at the woman and, during a struggle, the gun went off, leaving a bullet hole in the headboard of the woman’s bed.
Garcia pointed the gun at the woman another time and pulled the trigger, but the gun jammed, according to police.
The victim says Garcia was manic and pacing while holding the gun for more than two hours during the incident. After the gun went off, Garcia ordered the woman to text her landlord in case he heard the shot in order to assure the landlord that everything was fine.
After the victim complied, Garcia allegedly smashed her cell phone and Apple Watch using the gun. According to the victim, Garcia blocked the door and prevented the women from leaving throughout the incident.
The victim says that after Garcia fell asleep, she was able to escape. She was treated at a local hospital for cuts and bruises that were consistent with her account of the attack, according to police.
Garcia, who is from Orlando, allegedly fled the area and was tracked down by detectives and members of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement on Friday, Sept. 22. He was found in Crystal River, where he was taken into custody without incident.
On Tuesday, Garcia was transferred to the Volusia County Jail, where he is currently incarcerated without bond. He faces several felony charges, including attempted first degree murder, sexual battery with a deadly weapon, and false imprisonment.
