Pastor Rubén Duany Babastro was born on September 15, 1935 in Santiago de Cuba, into an Adventist family. His parents. Wigberto Duany and Dulce María Babastro Bueno, they deeply influenced his life. Wigberto, a successful colportor, and Dulce María, a cultured educator, instilled in their children values and Dedication.
Rubén was the second of nine siblings and, from an early age, followed in his father’s footsteps as a colportor in the mountains of the East, Cuba. In the sixties, he entered the College of the Antilles, where he stood out as an exemplary student It was here that he met his future wife, Noemí Parker, who She would become her ministry partner.
In 1965, Rubén and Noemí got married and later had two children, Mebys and Rubén. Together they served the Lord in several churches in Cuba, including Minas, Nuevitas, Sola, La Gloria and San Serapio, as well as in Florida, Céspedes and Esmeralda. Then, his ministry was extended to Santa Clara and he assumed administrative roles in Holguín Havana.
When the Duany family moved to the United States, Rubén resumed his support in Chicago and then served as a pastor in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. During this time, he sought his academic improvement and obtained a Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry from Andrews University in Michigan.
In Pennsylvania, the family faced difficulties, since Naomi developed Parkinson’s disease and Mebys died at 46 Years due to a heart attack.
Pastor Rubén Duany’s last years of service were at the Florida conference, where he served as an evangelism assistant and participated in campaigns in different churches. Finally, he retired but continued to preach in several places. One of his last pastoral services was in Tallahassee, Florida.
Despite his advanced age, Pastor Duany maintained his vitality, but his health deteriorated in his last years, and both he and his wife Naomi died. The Pr. Duany closed his eyes on the night of last September 26, waiting for the fulfillment of the Promise of eternal life in the coming of Jesus.
