Sophie Marie Petrone of New Jersey (Newark, South Orange, Tinton Falls), Myrtle Beach, SC, West Palm Beach, Florida and Lake Nona, Florida passed away peacefully on October 2 with loved ones around her.
Sophie was born in Newark, NJ, attended First Ave School and Central High School in Newark and attended New York University.
Sophie was a devoted wife and loving mother and was preceded in death by her husband, Michael E. Petrone, her son, Frank Petrone, her parents, Nicholas and Josephine Fiore, her sister Jean Luongo, and brothers, Richard, Nicholas, Robert Fiore.
Sophie is survived by her two children, Dr. Michael E. Petrone of Lake Nona, Florida and Robert (Kim) Petrone of Myrtle Beach, SC. She is also survived by other family members, including nieces, nephews and many special friends.
Sophie was a school teacher in Newark and also worked in Newark at the Hall of Records. She spoke often of “her days” growing up in Newark, spending summers at Long Branch and Belmar and of her time seeing Frank Sinatra at the Paramount Theater, NYC and in later years in Las Vegas and Atlantic City.
Sophie always put her family first and was always willing to help those in need. She would tell you she had a terrific life, however, there were some up’s and downs. In the end, Sophie would say like Sinatra said “she had a good life and she did it her way”. Sophie will be missed. God Bless you Sophie- we love you
