It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) L. Conner, who left us to be in heaven on October 10, 2023. Bob was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Bob was born on November 13, 1945, to Joseph Russell Conner Sr. and Ruth Olson Conner in Jacksonville, FL. After graduating from Hillsborough High School in 1963, he went on to study computer programming and graduated from Florida Technical College. After graduating he entered the United States Air Force. Bob served for four years as part of the Aerospace Defense Command and was awarded an Air Force Commendation Medal as a Computer Operator and Programmer.
After his service in the United States Air Force, he worked as the head of Rollins College Data Center. After his role at Rollins College, he worked in the computer systems industry for many years. At his core, Bob was an entrepreneur. He started and managed his own successful business for many years. He loved his career and was a great mentor and friend for the people he worked with.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Bob was a warm and caring individual. He had a witty sense of humor, always ready with a clever remark or a joke to brighten anyone’s day. He had an infectious enthusiasm for life, and his positive outlook was a beacon of light to those fortunate enough to know him. Throughout Bob’s life he served in his church and in his community. He volunteered his time and resources making a positive impact on the lives of others.
In 1964, Bob met Elaine, and they wed in 1968, going on to have 2 children, Greg and Blake.
Bob loved God, his family, and his career. He loved to play all sports (softball, fishing, racquetball, and golf). He loved being outdoors and spending time with his family. He enjoyed not only competing but took joy in seeing others succeed.
Bob is survived by his wife Elaine Haynie Conner, his son Gregory Wayne Conner and Greg’s wife Kathrene Elaine Conner, his son Blake Loren Conner and Blake’s wife Tracy Lynn Conner, his grandchildren Emma Lynn Conner and Bryce Loren Conner. He is also survived by his brothers James Conner, Joseph Conner Jr, and Richard Conner.
As we say our farewells, let us remember Bob for the remarkable person he was – a loving husband, a devoted father, a dedicated professional, and a true friend. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
There will be no formal service, but his family remembers and honors him every single day, missing him with heavy and broken hearts.
