It is with great sadness the family of Kathryn Darlene Fries announce her peaceful passing on October 15, 2023, at the age of 91 years. Darlene was born on Sunday, November 15, 1931, in Van Buren, IA.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Rainer, son Nicholas, and parents Merne and Helen Strait. Darlene will be lovingly remembered by her children Annette (Mark) Meeks, Michael (Carole) Fries, and Loraine (John) Macqueen; Darlene is also survived by her daughter-in-law Nancy (Nicholas) Fries; grandchildren Adam (Lauren) Fries, Alexander (Caitlin) Fries, Kathryn (Jake) Zalesky, Kristine (Grant) Hughes, James Meeks; great-grandchildren Mia, John, Riley; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Darlene was a graduate of the University of Evansville and enjoyed teaching elementary school children throughout her 30 year career. Darlene was a faithful member of Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends who meant so very much to her.
Mass will be celebrated on Friday October 27, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church, 6803 Old Highway 441 South, Mount Dora, FL 32757.
A private burial service to be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734.
