A 38-year-old bicyclist was killed after he collided head-on with an SUV along an Orlando roadway.
The fatal accident took place near the intersection of Orange Avenue and Perkins Road at 12:16 a.m. on Monday, October 30.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, the bicyclist was traveling southeast in the southbound lanes of Orange Avenue, just north of Perkins Road.
The bicyclist attempted to travel in the northbound lanes of Orange Avenue, when he entered the direct path of a 2022 Toyota Highlander.
The driver of the Toyota, a 24-year-old DeBary woman, attempted to swerve left to avoid a collision with the bicycle, but was unable to. As a result, the front of the vehicle struck the bicycle.
The bicyclist was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.
The driver of the Toyota and her passenger, a 24-year-old woman from Franklin, Tennessee, were not injured in the accident.
