A Hooters on International Drive was forced to temporarily close last week after an inspector cited it for 28 health code violations, including dozens of flying insects.
According to a report from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, the restaurant, which is located at 8801 International Drive, was forced to close on Tuesday, October 24.
During an inspection on that day, at least 100 flying insects were observed at a wait station. Dozens others were observed in various parts of the restaurant, including a 10 in the main bar.
Among the 23 basic violations were accumulations of mold-like substances and debris on an ice machine and a ware-washing machine.
The restaurant was reinspected on Wednesday, October 25, and was permitted to reopen, but required “further review” based on additional violations. In total, 18 violations were cited during the follow-up inspection.
Records show that the restaurant was reinspected again on Tuesday, October 31, and it met inspection standards. During that inspection, only six basic violations were found.
