81-year-old pedestrian struck, run over in fatal accident

An 81-year-old man crossing a local roadway was killed after he was struck by a vehicle and then run over by a second vehicle.

The fatal accident took place on Friday, November 10, at around 7:26 p.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The pedestrian, who was from Titusville, was walking in a northerly direction when he entered the westbound, inside lane of N Wickham Road. According to authorities, the man was not in a marked crosswalk.

Upon entering the roadway, the man walked into the direct path of a 2019 Ram 1500 being driven by a 47-year-old Melbourne woman that was traveling westbound on the roadway, just west of Interlachen Road.

The driver says she attempted to swerve to avoid hitting the pedestrian, but could not avoid the man. After the pedestrian was struck, he was thrown into the roadway.

While he was lying in the roadway, he was run over by a 2006 Toyota Highlander being driven by a 24-year-old Orlando woman.

The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. The drivers of both vehicles remained on the scene and were not injured in the crash.
