An 18-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a fatal accident on Tuesday night after he was ejected from his vehicle while trying to avoid contact with a turning vehicle that fled the scene.
The accident took place near the intersection of Apopka Boulevard and Tilden Avenue on Tuesday, November 14, at around 10:12 p.m., according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
The motorcyclist, who was from Apopka, was driving a 2013 Yamaha Motorcycle northbound on Apopka Boulevard, approaching Tilden Avenue.
As the motorcycle was traveling northbound, an unknown vehicle that was traveling southbound on Apopka Boulevard made a left turn to travel westbound on Tilden AVenue.
The driver failed to yield the right-of-way to the motorcyclist, who attempted to swerve to avoid the vehicle and lost control of the motorcycle.
As a result, the rider was thrown from the vehicle. He was transported to AdventHealth Apopka, where he was pronounced deceased.
According to FHP, there were no witnesses to the crash and there is no further information regarding the vehicle or driver responsible. There would be no damage to the vehicle from the crash, as the vehicles did not make contact.
