Law enforcement authorities are now offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information about a fatal hit-and-run accident on Orange Blossom Trail that claimed the life of a 5-year-old girl.
On Thursday, police released reward information and a photo of Aiyanna McCoy, the young girl who was killed during the accident last weekend.
McCoy, who was a kindergarten student at Orange Center Elementary School, was riding as a passenger in a 2016 Nissan Pathfinder with several other occupants on Saturday, November 11, just before 10 p.m.
According to police, a 2016 silver Mercedes C300 was traveling southbound on Orange Blossom Trail alongside the Pathfinder when the two vehicles became involved in an accident.
As a result of the accident, two passengers in the Pathfinder, including McCoy, were ejected from the vehicle.
McCoy was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
Immediately after the accident, the occupants of the Mercedes fled the scene.
The other occupants of the Pathfinder, including a 9-year-old girl and a 4-year-old girl, were all in stable condition, according to OPD.
No additional details were provided by law enforcement authorities.
