Mayola Johnson Jones, a retired entrepreneur and resident of Eatonville, Florida, was born on April 23, 1946, in Orlando, Florida. She was known to many as May or May-May, and loved by all.
Mayola graduated from Robert Hungerford High School in Eatonville, Florida and started her career path in the nursing field in California. Once she returned to Florida, she started her own staffing agency, May-May Staffing, where she staffed for the nursing field.
Mayola loved the Lord and gave her life to the Lord in the early ‘80’s, where she joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. She loved singing in the choir. Mayola was gifted and played several musical instruments. She also loved knitting, traveling, and cooking in her spare time. She was well known in the community and ministered to many, even in her sickness.
Mayola loved her immediate and extended families. She found joy in bringing her family together, whether it was for a family reunion or a simple gathering. Mayola carried a warm, endearing disposition and an infectious smile.
Mayola is preceded in death: by her parents Henry Byrd and Pearl BrownByrd; as well as siblings, Wilmer Appling, Walter Appling, Ernestine Davis, and Willie James Appling.
Mayola was graced with a blessed life of 77 years, surrounded by her loving family. She leaves to cherish with fond memories: her children, Vincent Johnson and Mechelle Singletary; her sister-in-love, Edna Mozelle Miller-Bournes; her beloved grandchildren, Joshua Johnson, Danielle Fowler, Javonta Jones, Alexia Barclay, Jamal Bryant, Marcus Harvey, Pumpkin Harvey, Gary Bryant, Brittany Turner, Tyrone Johnson, Antonio Johnson, LaRissa Johnson, Alicia Singletary, TaShana Singletary, Shamir Bergeron, Renard Mahone, and Qrashundra Mahone; 26 great– grandchildren; a host of sorrowing nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
