A fatal accident slowed traffic on and around a section of Interstate 4 this morning as emergency crews worked to clear the area.
The accident occurred near mile marker 108 on I-4 West at around 5:55 a.m., according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
A 25-year-old Casselberry man was driving a 2007 Ford Ranger westbound on the highway, approaching mile marker 108 in the center lane. For unknown reasons, the driver lost control of the vehicle.
After losing control, the vehicle ran off the roadway and overturned onto the right grass shoulder. In the process, the driver was ejected from the vehicle.
The vehicle continued traveling southwest across the I-4 westbound entrance ramp from Dirksen Drive before colliding with a guardrail.
The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Motorists reported hour-long backups on various roadways around the stretch of I-4 where the accident took place.
