George Gerald Tomecek, a devoted Catholic, was born February 16, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan. He was the eldest son of George Rudolph and Eleanor Cecilia Tomecek. George was a very outgoing fellow who cherished a good sense of humor. He was an avid Pinochle player who likely knew how the hand would play out before anyone else at the table. He worked for the material department at General Motors before joining the United States Navy at 20 years old. He spent three years aboard the USS Cronin before being honorably discharged with a National Defense Service Medal.

Afterwards, George worked for the Frank Coker Company selling equipment before meeting Constance Rose Gotinsky, the love of his life, at age 29. Connie was a secretary for George’s father at General Motors. Within 4 months, George proposed and they were married 13 months later. George and Connie lived in Southfield, Michigan and spent free time up north at their cottage on Baetcke Lake. George spent his early years flying planes and tinkering with automobiles. Three years into marriage, they moved to Hollywood, Florida to buy and run a motel called The Florida Apartments. Other adventures followed before moving in 1977 to Orlando where he built residential homes and eventually pursued real estate. George was a passionate golfer in his later years who also enjoyed watching football and golf
tournaments.

George is survived by his wife Constance with whom he was married for 61 years and his two sons George Jeffrey (wife Brandi Leigh) and Brad Alan (wife Angela Christa). George very much loved his three grandsons George Braxton, Tyler James and Austin Charles.

A funeral mass for George will be held Monday December 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church, 5125 South Apopka-Vineland Road, Orlando, Florida 32819.
