A 32-year-old man from Mexico who has previously been removed from the United States on eight separate occasions will spend the next 15 months behind bars for illegally reentering the country.

Jose Manuel Gonzalez-Ibarra was sentenced to 15 months in federal prison by U.S. Middle District of Florida Judge Carlos E. Mendoza for illegal reentery into the United States after deportation.

According to court records, Gonzalez-Ibarra was arrested by Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies on July 16, 2023 for driving under the influence.

At the time, he was also charged with felony possession of a controlled substance after officers found methamphetamine during a search that was incident to his arrest.

After he was arrested, authorities determined that Gonzalez-Ibarra had been in the United States without legal authorization. According to authorities, Gonzalez-Ibarra had been removed from the United States on eight separate occasions.
