A Kissimmee man and convicted felon who is facing six counts of attempted murder in a separate case was sentenced to seven years in prison for being in possession of firearms that were used to commit multiple shootings in Orlando.
Cristian Burgos, 25, was sentenced by U.S. Middle District of Florida Judge Wendy Berger to seven years in federal prison for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
Burgos, who is currently facing six counts of attempted murder for allegedly firing shots into Toxic nightclub on Halloween weekend, pled guilty to the separate charges in August.
According to court records, Orlando Police Department officers came across a vehicle that had been carjacked on January 29, 2023. As they attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, the driver, who was later identified as Burgos, began to flee on foot. He was apprehended after a short chase.
Burgos was found with a Glock firearm, an Anderson Manufacturing rifle, and ammunition. At the time of his arrest, Burgos had previously been convicted of robbery with a firearm. As a convicted felon, he is prohibited from possessing a firearm.
According to authorities, the rifle recovered from Burgos was later tested and identified as having been used to commit two shootings in Orlando in October 2022.
Burgos is currently incarcerated and faces six counts of attempted murder and two counts of shooting into a building related to the shooting at Toxic nightclub on October 29, 2022.
