Patricia Roy Edwards

Patty Edwards, 91, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 28, 2023.

Patty led a selfless life of devotion to her community, and most importantly, her family. Born in Lexington, Kentucky, and raised in Orlando, Patty was a 1948 Orlando High School graduate. She attended Sullins College in Bristol, VA where she was editor of the school newspaper. She was graduated in 1952 from the University of Georgia with a B.A. in Journalism. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi social sororiety, and a journalism honorary.

Patty was an avid lover of the Orlando community. She taught at Lake Como Elementary School, was an active member of The Rosalind Club, was a contributing writer to the Orlando Sentinel, and served as Curator of Leu House Museum. She was a voracious reader, antique appraiser, and collector. Humble, patient, and genuine, she was a fountain of knowledge.

The most rewarding part of Patty’s life was her devotion to her family. She loved, and was loved by her husband, Thomas (deceased); daughter, Caroline Bruno; son, Eric; granddaughter, Laura (James) Carlson; great-grandchildren, Wallace Carlson (11), Robins Carlson (9), Eloise Carlson (7), and countless friends.

A Celebration of Life and Thanksgiving for Patty will be held December 19 at 2:00 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery
