A deputy was injured after a suspect allegedly barricaded himself inside a vehicle and fired shots at law enforcement authorities.
Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a residence at 3230 Whitehorse Court in the city of Deltona this morning in reference to an armed, barricaded suspect.
Upon arrival, deputies found that the suspect, who has not been identified by authorities, had barricaded himself in his vehicle.
At around 7 a.m., VCSO reported that deputies were engaged in a “lengthy standoff” with the suspect. During that standoff, the sheriff’s office says that one of its deputies was shot.
That deputy sustained a non-life-threatening injury, according to VCSO.
Just before 9 a.m., the sheriff’s office reported that the suspect had been removed from the house and was “conscious and alert.” He was treated by Volusia County Fire Rescue emergency personnel.
No additional details have been provided by authorities as of 10 a.m.
