Deaconess Ruther Mae Brown, 100, of Orlando, departed this life on Saturday, December 16, 2023. Ruther was born on August 1, 1923 in Calvary, Georgia to the late Grace and Arthur Pease.

Ruther Mae dedicated her life to service in her church, family and community. She was an active member of St. Mark AME Church, Orlando since 1944. Over her 7 plus decades of faithful membership, she served in various capacities of the church including the Seniors Ministry, Choir #2, Stewardess Board, Wallace Board, and as a Deaconess. She instilled love, wisdom, and Christian values for all her children and grandchildren to follow. Ruther Mae was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving and devoted children: daughter, Debra (Herbert) Snead; sons, Freddie Brown Jr., Eddie (Fannie) Brown, Thomas J. (Stacey) Brown; brother, Lee Andrew Pease; sisters, Princie J. Colston, Vera (Samuel) Nesbitt, Jewie Preston, Betty Chatman; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

The family will receive guest on Friday, December 29, 2023 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the mortuary. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark African Methodist Episcopal Church, 1968 Bruton Boulevard, Orlando with Pastor Terence R. Gray, I, officiating. Interment: Woodlawn Memorial Park, Orlando.
