Thai restaurant formerly ranked in Yelp’s top 100 fails health inspection

A Thai restaurant that was one of Yelp’s top 100 restaurants in the state of Florida in 2022, was forced to temporarily close after failing a health inspection due to rodent activity.

Mee Thai Restaurant was forced to temporarily close its location at 1200 Lee Road on Thursday, December 14, after failing a health inspection conducted by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

According to the inspector’s report, the business was cited for at least 18 health code violations, including one considered high priority.

During the inspection, the report notes that at least six rodent droppings were found on top of canned goods and eight droppings were found on a shelf with food products. Another 20 droppings were found behind a deep freezer in the hallway connected to the kitchen.

The restaurant was reinspected the following day and was permitted to reopen after only six basic and intermediate violations remained.

The restaurant has now closed four times dating back to May 2022. That includes a closure in November 2022 and another in August 2022.

In June of 2022, Mee Thai was named the 43rd best restaurant on Yelp’s list of the 100 best restaurants in Florida.
