Bud was a lifelong resident of Osceola County and worked for the City of Kissimmee for over 38 years starting out as meter reader final position as the Assistant Director Water and Sewer Department. He knew every water and sewer line in the county. Long after he retired city employees would call and ask where things were and what connected where. He could remember and would help them out. He was a great father to his 3 children and truly his life was altered after losing Gregg to cancer in 1991. The only thing that kept him going were his 3 grandsons, Caleb, Cameron and Tyler.
Bud retired from the City just to spend more time with these 3! From T-Ball, Soccer, Football, Track…he was the taxi and off field coach for so many years! He changed the course of their lives and opened their world up to Sports. Something that they love to this day. You had to watch him…once he retired…one little phone call from the school off he would go to pick them up. Just looking for a reason to spend more time with them. All 3 of his grandson’s are truly molded by the grandpa he was to them. One the last things he talked about was if he could re-live those years with them, he would many times over.
There was a love for outdoors that he carried even to the end. Wanting to feel that last “pull” on that fishing line or carry one more deer and gut for the backstrap. He loved Bass fishing and can’t remember when he didn’t own a boat! Many tales were told on Lake Toho with all his buddies from the Fishing Club. He sure missed it! I am sure everyone has a story or two about some of those adventures…if you were with him…it always an adventure.
Bud was a true “Florida Cracker” from start to finish and they just do believe they don’t make them like him anymore. Really no words for the lives he has touched. Rest Easy Daddy…Grandpa and GREAT-Grandpa…till we meet again.
