Police are investigating the death of a pedestrian who was struck and killed while crossing a busy roadway in DeLand.
The fatal accident took place on Saturday, December 30, at around 10:27 a.m., according to a statement issued by the DeLand Police Department.
A Ford pickup truck was traveling northbound on Woodland Boulevard, near the roadway’s intersection with Chipola Avenue.
At the same time, a man entered the roadway to cross at the intersection and was struck by the pickup truck.
The pedestrian, who was not identified by police, was transported to a hospital in Sanford, where he was pronounced deceased.
The driver of the pickup truck did not report any injuries at the scene.
As of Sunday, the pedestrian’s next of kin could not be located, according to DeLand Police Department.
