Orlando police ID father shot and killed in downtown

Homicide detectives have identified a father and business owner who was shot and killed in downtown Orlando over the weekend.

Terry Shawn Rivers, 35, was found by Orlando Police Department officers who were responding to reports of a shooting on Sunday, January 7, at around 2:13 a.m.

Officers responded to the parking garage at 2 South Orange Avenue and located a vehicle nearby that had crashed into the Morgan & Morgan headquarters at 20 North Orange Avenue.

Rivers was found sitting in the driver’s seat of the vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to the Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.

Homicide detectives say the investigation is ongoing and are asking anyone with information about this incident to call OPD at 321-235-5300, or the Central Florida Crimeline at 800-423-8477.

Friends and family of Rivers have taken to social media to grieve the father, who was also a business owner.

“From a child to an adult I’ve met a lot of cool people along the way, and you were one of them,” reads a statement from Emmitt H.

“I’m still numb and in disbelief. Forever love you, rest in piece my love,” reads a post from Jacinta H.
