Orange Public District Schools bus

A 9-year-old Orlando boy was killed after he was run over by a school bus that he crawled under right after being dropped off at his stop.

The fatal accident took place on Tuesday, January 16, at around 3:47 p.m., according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

An Orange County Public Schools bus was stopped in a roundabout within the parking lot of the Waterford East Apartments on Island Bay Drive, at the roadway’s intersection with Wharf Lane.

The child exited the vehicle and walked in a southeasterly direction. As the driver began proceeding north to continue through the roundabout, the child ran back towards the vehicle and crawled underneath.

As a result, the right rear tire ran over the child. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The bus driver, a 54-year-old man from Orlando, was not injured in the crash.
