Thelma Slaiman Alexander

Mrs. Thelma Slaiman Alexander, 91, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at her home in Lake Mary with loved ones by her side.

Thelma was born January 10, 1933 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Abraham and Beatrice (Mandel) Lehrman. Thelma was a graduate of Brooklyn College, Class of 1954 where she earned her bachelor’s degree in education.

She moved to Altamonte Springs in 1972 with her husband, Herbert Slaiman z”l and her children. She was a teacher at The Hebrew Day School in it’s early years and then taught at Longwood Elementary School for 19 years before retiring. Thelma was an immensely loving grandmother to 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and first husband, Thelma was preceded in death by her second husband, Simon Alexander z”l, her sister, Lillian Kirsch, z”l and brother, Arnold Lehrman z”l.

She is survived by her loving children Barry Slaiman (Peggy), Lisa Schwartz (Eric), and Amy Fain (Jeffrey), grandchildren Jennifer Slaiman, Kimberly Slaiman, Carly Goldin (Michael), Rachel Schwartz (Hannah Chapman), Chase Fain (Hannah Mort), and Jamie Louquet (Ben), great-grandchildren Brennan and Evan Goldin, as well as adoring nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Thelma will be held Friday, January 26, 2024 at 1 p.m. at the Yank Frank Pavilion at Temple Israel Cemetery (9200 Morton Jones Road, Gotha, FL) with Rabbi Geoffrey Spector officiating. May she rest in peace and may her memory always be a blessing.
