Jack Kibby

Jack Kibby, 85, formerly of Petersburg, OH, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at the home he shared with his daughter, Jennifer, in Winter Garden, FL. Jack was born in Youngstown, OH on March 28, 1938 to the late Ellsworth and Catherine Kibby and was a 1955 graduate of Wilson High School. He went on to attend Bethel College and Seminary in St Paul, MN.

Jack was an amazing baseball player and was even drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates. However, he gave up his baseball career when he met the love of his life, Trudy Dorfi. They met at a church summer camp while in high school. Jack and Trudy were married on October 24, 1959 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Youngstown, OH. They lived a wonderful life together, even fulfilling their retirement dreams by moving to Florida and working for Disney for 10 years. Jack and Trudy were married for 60 years until Trudy’s passing in 2020.

For the past four years, Jack has spectated every sport know to man that included a ball and was a regular winner of Bingo. He was also the keeper of the treats for his favorite, cat, Kat, who he lovingly called Sparky. His favorite Saturday afternoon hang out was “The Deli Downtown” in Winter Garden, FL

Jack leaves behind his “big brother,” Gilbert, who gave him his nickname, Zeke. He also leaves behind his children, Jeff Kibby, Lori (David) Thomas, Doug (Tiffany) Kibby, Scott (Nilda Lee) Kibby and Jennifer Kibby; 19 grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Eileen White; brothers-in-law Mike (Jeri) Dorfi and Ray (Linda) Dorfi.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church, 420 Clearmount Dr. Youngstown, OH 44511. Visitation with family and light refreshments will follow.
