Orlando man who sold fentanyl, cocaine to confidential source sentenced to 5 years

A 30-year-old man who sold cocaine and fentanyl to a source cooperating with the Drug Enforcement Administration has been sentenced to five years behind bars.

Ernesto Hidalgo, of Orlando, was sentenced to five years in prison for conspiracy to distribute controlled substances, including 40 grams or more of fentanyl.

According to court records, over the course of several months last year, Hidalgo sold drugs to a source cooperating with the DEA on multiple occasions.

On January 10, 2023, Hidalgo sold the source an ounce of cocaine for $1,000.

On January 17, 2023, Hidalgo sold the source an ounce of fentanyl for $2,000.

On March 2, 2023, Hidalgo sold the source another ounce of fentanyl for $1,900.

On March 27, Hidalgo sold the source 50 fake pills that were pressed to look like pharmaceutical controlled substances but were actually fentanyl-laced. He received $1,000 for the pills.

On March 31, 2023, Hidalgo sold another three ounces of cocaine to the source for $2,700.

Hidalgo pled guilty to the charges on September 21, 2023.
