Mark Lambert Miessler

Mark L. Miessler, 60, of Orlando, Florida passed away unexpectedly on February 5, 2024. He wants you to stop being so sad about it.

A devoted, husband, father, teacher, friend and follower of Christ, he rests eternally and joyfully wishing we were all having a little more fun and not being quite so serious. Mark was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and carried the “Lassiez Le Bon Temps Roulez” spirit with him through a childhood in St. Charles, MO and Maywood, IL then on to Southern Illinois University and Concordia University River Forest before finding his heart’s home in Florida almost 40 years ago.

He loved God first and foremost and lived with the love and acceptance that comes with knowing we all fall short in the eyes of the Lord, but are loved unconditionally anyway. To be in his presence was to feel the power of that love. He was a proud Lutheran and loved to debate scripture, jazz, fishing, hiking, Chicago Bears Football, Formula-1 and anything you were passionate about. He was a committed educator and friend to more than 1,000 students over the years, most recently at Andover Elementary – a place he was always proud of.

He was the unofficial social chair of his neighborhood, remembered for back porch happy hours and a ready helping hand. This world is a little less joyful since he left, but his family and friends are comforted knowing that he lived without regret and in the firm knowledge of his eternal life through Christ.

Mark is survived by the love of his life, Marcia, his children Michael, Matthew (Megan) and Andrea Ponsor (Scott), his grandchildren Micah, Mikayla and Mikenna and his siblings Bryan, Christopher (Christine) and Robyn (David) Miessler-Kubanek, lifelong friends that are family like Tim, Joel, Joel and Karl and innumerable friends, students, neighbors and family.

A memorial service will be held on February 13, 2024 at 4 p.m. at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Oviedo, Fl.
