Orlando man who shot individual at hotel gets 10 years for firearm, drug offenses

An Orlando man who shot another man after a confrontation at a local hotel was sentenced to over 10 years behind bars for drug trafficking and possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.

Antione Oshea Ladson, 29, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Carlos Mendoza to 10 years and 6 months in federal prison.

According to court records, on August 27, 2022, Ladson checked into the Bel Air Hotel located at 6119 S Orange Blossom Trail in Orlando. While Ladson was walking through an outdoor breezeway, he encountered another man walking past him. After a brief confrontation with the man, Ladson used his modified pistol to shoot the man in the neck.

Less than three months later, in November 2022, Ladson was apprehended at a convenience store in Orlando. Upon review of surveillance video, law enforcement noticed that Ladson hid a fanny pack within the store.

That fanny pack contained his wallet, Social Security card, two digital scales used for weighing narcotics, a pistol magazine, and plastic baggies containing cocaine and marijuana.

Additionally, police recovered a Glock 23 pistol loaded with 14 rounds of ammunition.

As a convicted felon, Ladson is prohibited from being in possession of firearms and ammunition.

In December 2022, members of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Gang Enforcement Unit spotted Ladson driving along Orange Blossom Trail.

After he was pulled over, a search of his vehicle turned up an XD9 firearm with 19 rounds of ammunition, an additional 12-round magazine that was fully loaded with 9mm rounds, and a drum-style magazine.

Additionally, police found 4.8 grams of crack cocaine and 61.4 grams of marijuana.

In July 2023, Ladson pled guilty to two counts of possession with intent to distribute cocaine and marijuana, and two counts of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon.

Ladson had been facing up to 35 years in prison for firearm and drug offenses.
