Five Orlando area establishments are among 19 new restaurants from Florida that will join the 2024 Michelin Guide.
On Valentine’s Day, the company previewed the additional restaurants for its upcoming list in a statement published to its website.
“Florida’s ever-growing list of MICHELIN Guide restaurants is as diverse as they come,” reads company’s release.
As it stands, there are 137 restaurants in the state of Florida that have been named to the guide, which features the company’s selection of the best restaurants in the state.
The five restaurants in Orlando all feature Asian cuisine, with three serving Japanese food, and the others serving Vietnamese and Chinese: Zaru, Sushi Saint, Natsu, Camille, and Chuan Fu.
Zaru is owned by Jimmy and Johnny Tung, who founded the Bento Asian Kitchen chain of restaurants over 20 years ago and were nominated for a James Beard award. The recently opened restaurant is located at 1114 E. Colonial Drive in the Mills 50 District and serves udon noodles made from wheat sourced from Japan’s Kagawa Prefecture.
Sushi Saint is owned by Mike Collantes, who is the chef and owner of Soseki. Soseki was one of the first restaurants to be honored with a Michelin star in 2022, and Sushi Saint is “another hit,” according to Michelin. The restaurant sources high-quality rice and nori, and specializes in a variety of hand rolls. It is located at 400 Pittman Street, near downtown Orlando.
Like all the other restaurants on the list, Natsu also opened its doors in 2023. The restaurant serves Japanese cuisine and sushi in an omakase setting, with dining available by reservation. It is located at 777 N Orange Avenue in downtown Orlando.
Camille opened at 4962 New Broad Street in Baldwin Park last Spring, replacing Ocean Poke, which occupied the space for a few years. The brainchild of Tung Phan, the restaurant operated as a pop-up at the East End Market before transitioning into the space in Baldwin Park. Camille’s counter seats feature a ten-course Vietnamese-French tasting menu. The booths in the restaurant feature abbreviated versions of the meal.
Chuan Fu is a Sichuan restaurant owned by the same group that runs the popular Chuan Lu Garden. The restaurant opened last year at 1035 N Orlando Avenue, Ste. 105, taking over the former location of Orlando Meats. The restaurant features an expansive Szechuan menu with classic dishes served family-style.
With the additional five restaurants, the City Beautiful now boasts 20 restaurants that have been recognized by Michelin. In 2022, four Orlando area restaurants received a coveted MICHELIN star, including Capa, Kadence, and Knife & Spoon.
