Downtown Orlando eatery fails health inspection due to insects, dead mouse

A restaurant in downtown Orlando was forced to temporarily close for a day last week after it was cited for at least 17 health code violations.

Artisan’s Table temporarily closed its location at 55 W Church Street, Unit 128, on Tuesday, February 13. According to a report from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, the business was cited for 17 health code violations, including 4 considered “high priority.”

Among the high priority violations was the presence of live, small flying insects in the kitchen and food preparation areas. Additionally, raw eggs were being stored over bacon in a main prep cooler.

The restaurant was also cited for several basic violations, including the presence of one dead small mouse in a sticky trap behind an appliance in the kitchen.

The restaurant was permitted to reopen on Wednesday, February 14, after it was reinspected and only three violations were found.
