A 28-year-old man in a stolen vehicle allegedly crashed into a Florida Highway Patrol trooper before leading police on a chase through Orange and Osceola counties.

Kais Mahmoud Kaheel, of New Port Richey, was arrested on February 15 on multiple felony charges in related to the incident.

According to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol, Kaheel allegedly crashed into an FHP vehicle on State Road 528 near mile marker 2. At the time of the crash, Kaheel was in a 2004 GMC truck that was stolen.

As troopers attempted to stop the vehicle, Kaheel fled the scene. He eventually crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of U.S. Hwy 192 and Siesta Lago Drive in Osceola County.

Kaheel continued fleeing until he crashed into a chain link fence near the ramp from westbound U.S. 192 to I-4 east.

After the crash, Kaheel fled on foot and was caught by troopers a short time thereafter.

Kaheel now faces charges of grand theft of a motor vehicle, fleeing or eluding an officer with disregard for the safety of others, and leaving the scene of a crash, among other charges. He is currently incarcerated at the Orange County Jail.
