Orlando man who distributed fentanyl to undercover agents gets 15 years in prison

A 35-year-old Orlando man will spend over 15 years behind bars for distributing hundreds of grams of fentanyl to a confidential source and undercover agent.

Yadier Torres-Rivera was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Wendy W. Berger to 15 years and 8 months in federal prison for distributing fentanyl.

According to court records, between August 2022 and February 2023, Torres-Rivera sold fentanyl on eight separate occasions to a confidential source working on behalf of the Volusia County Sheriff’s Bureau of Investigation and under cover agents working for the Drug Enforcement Administration.

In total, Torres-Rivera distributed nearly 500 grams of fentanyl, including two instances in which he provided over 100 grams to the undercover DEA agent.

After he was arrested, Torres-Rivera was found in possession of a Glock 27, which he agreed to forfeit.

Torres-Rivera pled guilty to the charges last November.
