Sex offender who served 7-year prison stint facing new 10-year sentence

An Orlando man who served seven years in prison for sexually exploiting a child will spend at least 10 more years behind bars after pleading guilty to possessing child pornography.

Dominick Nardone, 45, has pled guilty to a charge of possessing child sexual abuse material, according to a statement issued by U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Florida Roger B. Handberg.

In 2014, Nardone was sentenced to seven years in federal prison for receipt of sexual abuse material.

After he completed his sentence early, Nardone began a term of court supervision.

On October 31, 2020, Nardone’s probation officer conducted an unannounced home visit at Nardone’s home, according to court records.

While he was being questioned about his use of electronic devices, Nardone admitted that he had used a cellphone to search for child sexual abuse material in the weeks leading up to the unannounced home visit.

The probation officer seized Nardone’s cellphone and the contents were forensically examined.

During the ensuing examination, authorities determined that Nardone had a history of viewing and downloading child sexual abuse material.

Nardone is facing a minimum of 10, and a maximum of up to 20 years in federal prison for the crime.

No sentencing date has been set in the case.
