Anita M. Romeo

Anita Marie Romeo, 82, passed away at home with her family by her side on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 after a sudden battle with cancer. Everyone that knew her would tell you she was the life of the party and could light up every room she entered.

Anita was born on May 26, 1941 in Honesdale, Pennsylvania to the late Jackson Anthony Aileon and Wilma (Krebs) Aileo. She was the oldest of five siblings, the late Marie “Pinky” (Aileo) Mann, William Aileo, Linda (Aileo) Drennan, and Jackson Aileo. Anita grew up in Carbondale, PA and graduated from Ben Franklin High School and Lackawanna College. She was happily married to James Romeo for 61 years. Anita was truly one-of-a-kind and had a special skill of making everyone smile. She was best known for her green thumb, creativity, and love for animals (rescuing dozens of animals in her lifetime). Although she was incredibly talented, she was very humble and made everything with love, whether she was in the garden, sewing, crocheting, painting, baking, cooking, and the list goes on.

In addition to her husband Jim, she is survived by her two children, James Jackson Romeo in Colorado, and Anita Marie (Romeo) Mangan and son-in-law Michael Mangan in Florida; two grandchildren, Ashley Marie Mangan and Britney Nicole Mangan; and siblings, Bill (and sister- in-law Brenna), Linda (brother-in-law Tom), Jackson, and brother-in-law John Mann.
