Lawrence Phillip Holleran

Lawrence Phillip Holleran, 93, of Winter Park, FL, passed away on March 5, 2024. He was born on February 3, 1931, in Pittsburgh, PA.

Larry was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Larry was known for his work ethic, intelligence, mischievous nature, caring demeanor, and sense of humor. He was a mentor to many and had a passion for sports and giving advice. He loved his children and especially his wife Kathy. Larry and Kathy were married on June 1, 1957 and were married for 66 years. Larry served in the Army from 1951 to 1954 and fought in the Korean War. After his military service, he finished college at the University of Pittsburgh. His true career start was given to him by Crucible Steel.

He later joined FMC Corporation and settled the family in Wilmette, IL. He would get his MBA from the University of Chicago while at FMC. He traveled the world in his position at FMC until his rise to the Vice President for Human Resources, a role he held for many years. After retiring from FMC he went on to teach in the MBA program at the University of Illinois Chicago and served on numerous boards. One of his many passions was traveling with his wife, Kathy. Together, they explored various countries, including Great Britain, Egypt, Israel, South Korea, Russia, Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Ireland, and more.

Larry is survived by his wife, Kathleen N. Holleran, his children Martin L. Holleran (Wendy Holleran Dewsbury), Lynn K. Holleran (Pam Borton), and Scott M. Holleran, as well as his grandchildren (Michael, Matthew, Lee (Jesse) and Nicholas) and a great-granddaughter (Elena). He was preceded in death by his parents, John P. Holleran and Ida Holleran, siblings (Virgina, Tom, Jack and Grace) and a son, Mark M. Holleran. A service to honor and celebrate Larry’s life will be held this summer in Pittsburgh, PA.

Larry had a way of making a difference in your life whether you realized in the moment or years later. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him. Rest in peace, you will be always be in our hearts.
