A 35-year-old man was arrested last week in connection with a shooting incident that damaged a business in downtown DeLand in early March.
According to the DeLand Police Department, a gunshot was fired into DeLand Pilates (119 N Woodland Boulevard) at around 7 p.m. on March 4.
There were no injuries reported, and DPD stated that the incident appears to be “isolated.”
DeLand police soon identified a vehicle that was used by the suspected gunman. A thorough investigation ultimately led detectives to a male suspect, identified as Michael Lee King, 35, of Miami.
On Friday, March 29, King traveled to the Volusia County Jail and turned himself in. He was placed under arrest and charged with shooting into a building and culpable negligence.
King is scheduled to appear in court at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, according to Volusia County court records.
Detectives with the DeLand Police Department state that the criminal investigation is still active and ongoing. No further details were provided.
