Charles Shinkle

Charles Shinkle died unexpectedly at home on April 8th in Winter Springs, Florida at the age of 73.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Rosanne, his three children, Tiffany (Brett) Wright, Charlie (Erica) Shinkle, Veronica Kyle and eight doting grandchildren, Kaylee, Shelby, Wyatt, Evan, Owen, Emily, Gavin and Duanna.

Charlie was born in Huntsville, Alabama on May 14th to John and Martha Shinkle. After graduating from Hazel Green High School in 1968, he attended Auburn University, graduating in 1973 with a degree in industrial engineering. He married Rosanne Douglas in 1978. Charlie enjoyed an honorable 20 year career as a pilot in the US Air Force and retired a lieutenant colonel, commander of the 905th Air Refueling Squadron in 1994.

After retiring from the Air Force, Charlie worked for the state of Florida in emergency management. Following that chapter, Charlie spent time as a skilled woodworker, tirelessly finishing the long list of projects requested by family.
Charlie was a pillar of strength to his family. He always put family first and was a dedicated husband and father. He loved traveling with Rosanne, always finding new places to explore. He cherished any time surrounded by his loving family, always imparting words of wisdom for his children and grandchildren. His knowledge and guidance was the foundation of his family.

A funeral is scheduled for April 16, at 11 a.m. at San Pedro in Winter Park, Florida, with a reception to follow. Msgr. John Bluett and Father George Dunne will officiate the ceremony.
