A 71-year-old Deltona man was killed on Saturday evening after he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a tree in Volusia County.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was heading westbound on Debary Avenue, near the intersection of Main Street, on a 2008 Triumph motorcycle. He was traveling in the outside lane.
Several witnesses spoke with FHP and advised that the motorcyclist was speeding and ran a stop sign at the intersection shortly before the crash. He then swerved to the right to avoid colliding with other vehicles on Main Street.
