An 18-year-old Kissimmee man was killed on Monday night after he was struck by an SUV while crossing a roadway in Lake County.
The fatal accident occurred at around 11:55 p.m. on April 15, near the intersection of U.S. 27 and Lake Louisa Road in Clermont.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2010 Acura RDX was traveling northbound on U.S. 27 in the center lane.
As the SUV approached the intersection of Lake Louisa Road, the 18-year-old was walking across the northbound lanes of U.S. 27 in an easterly direction. A trooper noted in the report that the pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk.
The pedestrian proceeded to walk in the direct path of the SUV, and he was struck by the front left of the vehicle.
The driver and sole occupant of the SUV, identified as a 21-year-old man from Clermont, was not injured. He remained at the scene of the accident.
The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The FHP report stated that the crash remains under investigation.
