John E. Coster Sr.

Our Dad, Grandfather, and Friend, Jack Coster, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 2, 2024, at his residence in Winter Park, FL, at the age of 91.

He was born on December 16, 1932, in Pittsfield, MA, to Mary D. McColgan and Edward J. Coster. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in Pittsfield, MA and later received an associate degree in Food Science from SUNY Morrisville, NY, and a Bachelor of Science degree from College of Notre Dame in Baltimore, MD.

Jack married the love of his life, Ann B. Couture of Pittsfield, MA, on January 12, 1957. They enjoyed 55 years together and originally settled in Westfield, MA for nearly 10 years until the family moved to Reisterstown, MD in 1968 and resided at 116 Nicodemus Road for another 37 years. In 2006, Jack and Ann moved to the Charlestown Retirement Community in Catonsville, MD for 14 years. In 2020, Jack moved to Winter Park, FL to live with family and was cared for by his good friend and most loving caregiver, Ms. Cheryl Pollard.

Jack worked as a sales executive for nearly 35 years and spent most of his career at Bush Boake Allen Inc. in Montvale, NJ, where he specialized in selling flavor and fragrance chemicals to Fortune 500 companies. He later dedicated himself to serving as a Catholic Deacon for the Archdiocese of Baltimore from 1985 to 2018, proudly serving at St. John Roman Catholic Church in Westminster, MD, and Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Catonsville, MD. The highlight of his Deacon service was providing communion to Mother Teresa of Calcutta during her visit to Baltimore, MD. Jack was a proud member of the National Association of Diaconate Directors and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed music, volunteering in his community as a referee/ coach, and spending time with his many friends and family.

Jack is preceded in death by his mother, Mary D. McColgan; father, Edward J. Coster; and wife, Ann B. Coster.

Jack is survived by his daughter Mary; son John Jr., his wife, Dawn, and two grandchildren, Jack and Sydney; son Mike, his wife, Valeria, and granddaughter, Luzia.
